A great awareness campaign for Rotary

DGN Deb Gimblett reports:
"District 9940 Women in Rotary attended the National Women's Expo that was held in Palmerston North on the 12 and 13th May.
We had members from the surrounding Rotary clubs, Wanganui, Feilding, Levin, Terrace End, Takaro and one Ambassadorial Scholar Kaitlin Vadla  who volunteered to help "man" the stand.  It was held over two days.  It was fun and the members found it to be an enjoyable experience.
The local clubs were very supportive of this new venture.  It is simply going out and advertising Rotary, what we do and the fact that  we have women in Rotary.
It was a great awareness campaign.
When talking to the general public, many didn't know what we did as Rotary and didn't know  women could join Rotary.
We had up to date hand-outs about Rotary and a contact detail list for those wanting more information about Rotary.
As Rotary was having District (9940) Assembly on the following Sunday ladies were invited to attend the 101 session - 'What is Rotary and What's in it for Me' sessions run by PDG Judy Bain.  Those women who attended are now being matched with clubs around Palmerston North.
Due to the success at this Expo we are going to attend the Wellington Women's Expo on the 11th,12th August."
