As we come to the end of this very special year together, I
would like to express my gratitude for all that you have done to make 2011-12
all that it has been. This has been an exciting year in Rotary, with many
new opportunities for growth and service and you have played a very important
role in our organization this year. I sincerely hope that you have found
your work as a Rotary Public Image Coordinator to be rewarding and
fulfilling.
More than 75 years ago, Rotary’s founder,
Paul Harris, wrote, “The world is constantly changing, and Rotary must be
prepared to change with it.” It is a truism that has held through decades and
across continents, in tens of thousands of Rotary clubs throughout the world.
Change is why we are here, and what we
strive for. We are not satisfied with the lowest common denominator, for Rotary
is anything but common. We see the world not as it is, but as it might be; and
we believe, as Mohandas Gandhi said, that we must be the change we wish to see
in the world.
This year, I asked every Rotarian to Reach
within to Embrace Humanity. I ask all of you to continue to
strive without fear or limitation, to open your minds and your hearts to the
possibilities of Rotary. Do not hesitate, do not falter; rather stay
steadfastly on the path that is set forth for you.
Please accept my best wishes as we look
to the future with renewed commitment. I know that you will continue to
Reach within to Embrace Humanity through fellowship and service in
your clubs, and in your communities and around the world.
Kind regards,
Kalyan BanerjeePresident, Rotary International
