This was the script/citation read at a meeting earler this year at the Rotary Club of Tawa by Past President Tony Heyward - with the Prime Minister in the gathering:
Tonight, I would like to acknowledge a
Tawa Rotarian that has truly practiced Service Above Self
This member is a Past President of
this Club, and a Paul Harris Fellow, he is passionate and totally committed to
making a difference locally and internationally. This Rotarian has taken a
stand on issues such as family violence and the promotion of family values.
Locally, he is well known in the Tawa
Community and has participated in many projects and events. He has held key
roles within our district and is totally committed to assisting where he
can.
He has held the position of District
Governor, this highest Rotary position in this district.
IPP Tony Heyward, PDG Pat Waite, Prime Minister John Key |
He has stepped up when it counts and
utilized his commercial knowledge to make a difference in Rotary and the wider
community.
Internationally, he has represented
the Rotary World President and continues to provide advice and inspiration to
many people around the globe to get involved in this great organization “Rotary”
and make a difference.
He has attended International
conventions and conferences and recently led a group from within this district
to India
to help with the eradication of Polio.
Members of this club were encouraged / enticed / had their arms twisted
to join this incredible experience and work in the slum areas assisting with
the immunisation programme. This is a
major programme for Rotary International, we are very close to eradicating this
horrible disease from the world.
This Rotarian has made a significant
personal contribution to the Rotary Foundation and continues to encourage and
inspire others within the community to give involved and make this world a
better place to live.
It is my
pleasure to ask the PM Rt Hon John Key to present a:
MULTIPLE PAUL
HARRIS FELLOW WITH THREE RUBIES
TO TAWA
ROTARIAN PAT WAITE.
