Why Blog - why not?

I believe we can achieve much more in Rotary as an organisation if we communicate more effectively.  Effective communication providing regular, bite-sized snippets of information to our rotarians and Club will not only inform but also motivate.  In my year as Governor I started a Blog.  I was not sure what it all meant but I did understand one basic maxim.  People like to know what's going on.  And so what started as 'I'll give it a try' ended after 12 months with a Blog that received over 40,000 hits and was read around the world.

Why I wonder?  I believe there were several reasons:

First it was relevant to members
Second it was up to date and daily updated
Thirdly it had a human content
Forth it was short, normally with a picture or graphic
Finally it was well promoted - on web sites, bulletins and DG Newsletters.

It has been sufficient for Rotary Down Under to start their own Blog as well as several other Districts (see the Links on the right hand side of this page).   Shelter Box has also started their own Blog.  Clubs have also realised that this simple form of communication can promote their own activities in the community.

I invite you to join me and Dick Garner as we work to enhance the public image of Rotary in our respective countries and ask that you contribute ideas, stories, photos, inspirational thoughts, observations - in short, working with those of us keen to promote the image of Rotary in a fresh way to our neighbours.  This is your site!

Do join us.
