It is usually an evening meeting to which all Rotorua Rotary
Clubs and Partners are invited. For reasons beyond our Club's control and at
the last moment, this year's contest had to be held at our lunch meeting on
Monday 26th September 2011.
It is now hotly contested between the 7 High Schools in the
Rotorua region i.e. Rotorua Boy's, Girl's and Lakes High Schools, Western
Heights High School, John Paul College, Reporoa College and the Rotorua School
for Young Parents. Unfortunately due to the time change neither Lakes High nor
the School for Young Parents could be represented.
It is simply amazing how the content and delivery of the
speeches has improved year by year and one would not want to get into a debate
with any of the contestants. Year by year, the professionally qualified Judges
tell our Club how hard it is becoming to separate the contestants and pick a
winner. This year's contest was no different.
