As the Rotary Public Image Coordinators for New Zealand, the South Pacific Islands and Australia, we are keen to communicate regularly using this Blog. It will contain the latest Public Image news. We need to enhance our Public Image. It is our task to facilitate this and one method is using the Blog. We will be updating it on a regular basis. Do check it out and add the link to your Club web site and Bulletin. [PDG Leanne Jaggs (Zone 7b) & Wendy Gabroit (Zone 8)]

An Aussie aid for PR
Getting information out to the media is not an easy thing to do but its something Rotary needs to get better at. So here is information about a service that can assist you: www.newsmaker.com.au.
You will need to open an account with them (no charge for this) and then you can start generating your own Press Releases. They offer a Press Release Wizard that makes it easy to format a good professional looking email Releases.
Use the Wizard to set up your message - once you are happy with your message you move on to selecting the Media to which you wish to send the message. The message I sent out about Polio should reach according to NewsMakers approximately 9000 journalists - it cost $176.00. Payment is via Paypal on your credit card. Local / state media could cost as little as $22.00 + GST to send out a Press Release. The service enables you to set up a range of mailing lists - so you can then link your message to the appropriate list.
Have a look at this service as it could open doors for Rotary to effectively stream more information out to the media. It is also a good way for you to promote yourselves to the media so they know who to contact to find out about Rotary, this is important as we tend to be a hard organisation to contact. Press Releases are one more step in making Rotary a more open organisation and getting the recognition we deserve. NewsMakers make it easy for non-proffessionals to get effective messages out to a wider public.
