I am about to come home! I have spent the last 5 days in Chicago at a training Institute with my fellow Rotary Public Image Coordinators where we have been joined by the Rotary Coordinators and only today with the Rotary Foundation Coordinators. A truly international gathering.
Today we were addressed by our General Secretary John Hewko who outlined the major areas of focus.
These are:
- The eradication of polio - there are now only 3 countries where polio is endemic - Afghanistan, Nigeria and Pakistan.
- The implementation of the new grant model for The Rotary Foundation
- The capturing of the world-wide value of all Rotary projects outside of The Foundation - "Rotary Club Central" will allow Clubs to record their activity and for the first time Rotarians will see the value of our activity across the globe
- Making Rotary more appealing to potential members and especially those young adults who are looking for an organisation with a real cause. This will involve revitalising our brand, upgrading of RI web site and developing further strategies with the use of social media
- The 'Project Enhancement' focus where Water and Sanitation case studies and projects will be developed where Rotary Clubs can participate.
There is much exciting change ahead!
