This close - something to celebrate

Minister for Education Hekia Parata showing how close
the world is in eliminating polio from our world.

Jenny and I have just returned from a civic welcome where our group study exchange visitors from Canada were welcomed by the Mayor of Wellington, Celia Wade Brown. Along with DG Graeme Blick and many other Rotarians from surrounding Wellington Clubs, we were also honoured to have the Minister for Education Hekia Parata present to say a few words. Both spoke highly of the good work of Rotary across the world and both are honorary Rotarians. It was great to feel the real positives from such an exchange and the goodwill it fosters between nations and cultures. And of course, the Minister and Mayor Celia both were very aware of the efforts Rotary has made in the eradication of polio. We are indeed 'this close'.
