Tony Didsbury, National Coordinator (Sth Wairarapa Club) reports:
The 70,000 litter bags have been
distributed to the PGG Wrightson stores, 10,000 each, to:-
Whangarei
Whakatane
Cambridge
Feilding
Masterton
Blenheim
Outram.
Also 70,000 flyers and 300 posters
have been sent to the above stores. The flyers are for people to take with
their litter bag, the posters are to help the staff get the message over.
Farmlands (North Island) and CRT
(South Island) are also participating stores. RD1 are not on board at present
but I have been assured that they will take part. Litter bags may also need to
be at local provincial outlets. In the Wairarapa we have distributed bags to a
local store with a very positive response. Rotary Clubs
may need to get involved to help with the distribution of bags to other
outlets.
All District Councils in NZ have
been notified. We have requested that they open their refuse tips during the
weekend of the 27th and the 28th August free of charge. They have also been
very positive and are keen to help and get alongside Rotary to help make it
happen.
