Public Image is all
about raising the profile of Rotary and getting its message of “Service Above
Self” in front of the public. Few things achieve this goal as effectively
as fundraising events that are carried out by Rotary clubs all over the world.
In many ways the
Maketu Kaimoana Festival run by the Rotary Club of Maketu, New Zealand is no
different than every other club fundraising event. But this year’s record breaking festival held
on February 16th demonstrated some creative public imaging efforts.
What made this year’s
festival a record breaking one? “Well
the beautiful weather didn’t hurt”, says David Campbell, the publicity
coordinator for the festival. “But we’ve
also discovered some ways to increase the effectiveness of our very limited publicity
budget.”
